This utility lets you open a JPG image from your computer or from a URL to view its Exif data. There's lots of interesting information held in image files for you to explore. Some images have GPS data so you can see exactly where it was taken. Nikon also records the camera's shutter count in the Exif data. Oddly I'll trust freeware like this EXIF Viewer when suggested by others. Freeware writers are software writers, and camera companies aren't. There are many other things called EXIF Viewer. This particular one reads the Nikon shutter actuations from JPG files. It is written by Ali Ozer incorporating work by Eric A Johnston. Check shutter count online - My Shutter Count.com MyShutterCount.com provides a tool for you to check your digital camera (most of the DSLR) shutter count and basic EXIF information. Just simply upload a photo which is taken by your digital camera. We will show you the shutter count of your camera instantly. Checking Shutter Count with Apps. We mentioned that there are programs that can help you open shutter count data. Here are a few of the best options: ExifTool: ExifTool is a free program with a lot of functionalities aside from reading EXIF data. It’s a bit much for most people, as you will most likely need to configure it and have some.format, including RAW. The app supports all EXIF, TIFF, EXIF-AUX, and JFIF structures as well as Maker Notes from Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Panasonic, Olympus and many more. The app will also display EXIF data and geo locations from photos taken with mobile phones.

Simulated viewfinder with Auto focus pointsStart by dragging your photos into the tray on the left side of the app window.
The unique simulated viewfinder reproduces what you saw when you took the shot: Shutter speed, F-stop, exposure compensation, ISO number, focus indication, flash, the focal length; if your images contain autofocus info, even the AF points are displayed, the active points highlighted in red. Just like with a real DSLR, the focus points can be displayed bright or dark:
Online Exif ViewerThe common photo editing applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture) strip lots of useful Exif data during export. If our software can't find AF info in your images, try importing photos as they come out of the camera. Also note that not all cameras embed AF info into the Exif data in the first place. Point-and-shoot cams as well as many mirrorless cameras do not include AF info.

If so desired, the whole viewfinder automatically rotates from landscape to portrait to further simulate the shooting. To do this the app evaluates the orientation flag in the EXIF data.
Extracting GPS coordinates from geotagged photosAdditionally, Softmatic EXIF Viewer can pull the GPS coordinates from geotagged photos and loads and centers a map that shows the spot where the photo was taken:
The map view is 'live' (internet connection required) and supports zooming, panning and the usual map, satellite and hybrid views.

Export raw EXIF dataA raw data view of the EXIF data as it comes from the selected image. For further analysis the data can be written to a text file or copied to the clipboard:
Export EXIF data for statistical analysisFinally, in the Statistics tab, a tabular view of the EXIF data of all imported images. The table can be exported for later analysis in Numbers, Excel or other software:

After selecting the FL and F-Stop columns, we created a Scatter diagram that shows the distribution of F stop over focal length.

Exif Viewer Online Shutter Count CheckerNote: Many applications strip EXIF data when exporting an image. For example, if you open a RAW image in Adobe Lightroom and export as JPEG, the Maker Notes and AF Info are stripped and not embedded into the JPEG's EXIF data.
Please note that Softmatic EXIF is a viewer only, it is not designed to edit EXIF data or to modify the EXIF information in your images. For bulk editing of EXIF data we recommend Adobe Lightroom.
