Shutter Count On A Camera

Obviously, replace “sourcejpegfile.jpg” with the name of your actual JPEG file. The program should return something like this: “ Shutter Count: 19889 ” or “ Image Number: 19889 ” – the number to the right of the string is the total shutter count on the camera. 5) Viewing Shutter Count EXIF Data via Opanda IExif. Cameras like the Nikon D5 and Canon 1DX Mark II are rated to around 400,000 shutter actuations. However, these are flagship bodies and the more affordable the camera, the less durable the mechanisms will be. It’s safe to say that most cameras will have a life of around 200,000 shutter actuations. This all depends on the make and model of your camera. Most DSLRs these days have an expected shutter lifespan of over 150,000 actuations, and some professional grade bodies push it much further than that. For example, the Nikon D5 has a shutter life expectancy of around 400,000 cycles. Check DLSR shutter count and EXIF info (Max file size 30M) Shutter Count info exist in most Nikon, Pantax DLSR and Canon 1D series DSLR Nikon's NEF, Pentax's DNG and PEF, Canon's CR2 raw file format are supported To upload a photo file, click on the button below.

EOSCount.com is a website that allows users to get an accurate shutter count for most current EOS Digital SLR's. It was originally free, but now there is a small payment required to access to shutter count.
Much later in this thread another free 'copycat' website is talked about, but I would suggest avoiding it as there have been reports of 'Malware' on that website.
Sorry, not ALL EOS but most current ones...

Which cameras are supported for shutter count retrieval?
Single-DIGIC III, all DIGIC IV, and some DIGIC V EOS cameras are supported. For example, shutter count can be read from the

Try http://eoscount.com
You'll have to use a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer and install an ActiveX control for communication with the camera. Then the control will read the shutter count from a 60D or a 7D right in the browser.

EDITED to show which cameras and which browsers are supported.....

Which browsers are supported?
32-bit Internet Explorer 5.0 and later. Firefox and Chrome are supported through the Internet Explorer tab (IE Tab). Other browsers are supported only when they can run ActiveX controls.
A browser must be 32-bit, as a 64-bit browser cannot run 32-bit ActiveX controls. The EOS Count control is 32-bit, because the Canon SDK is distributed in 32-bit version only.
The recommended browser is Internet Explorer 9.0.

I just tried this and it really works!
Serge, thank you for this great breakthrough.

According to the FAQ's on the download site, this will unfortunately NOT work on 5D classic.
